Takeover Talks Continue at L&G

5 November 2007

In a strategic review released this morning, London-listed Leisure & Gaming (L&G) said it continues to field bid approaches despite the dissolution of takeover talks with CGTV Games last month.

The company, which owns the Betshop brand, said it plans to focus on five strategic initiatives, including product, channel and geographic diversification.

It added that it will begin promoting its standalone BetshopItalia.com Internet offering and continue to explore new markets like Romania, where its first branded shop will open later this month.

"We are pleased to set out the focus of the business going forward, which incorporates significant opportunities in Italy and beyond," said L&G Chief Executive Henry Birch. "We have spent the last few months restructuring the business and, coupled with some of the ongoing corporate discussions we are having, feel that we are in a strong position to deliver value to shareholders."

L&G was up 0.50p, or 6.06 percent, to 8.75 on the LSE. Current share value in the company is up slightly from its 52-week low, 7.88p.
