Tatts Group Recovers as Outbreak Subsides

After an industry-crippling outbreak of equine influenza in 2007, Tatts Group has posted an after-tax profit growth of 8.8 percent for the first half of 2008.

The betting shop operator reported profits of 144.7 million Australian dollars, and it reported a year-over-year revenue increase of 5.4 percent. Basic earnings per share for profit from continuing operations rose 9.6 percent to 11 cents.

The Tatts Pokies segment saw a slight revenue increase of 1.7 percent to 669.9 million Australian dollars, and revenue for UNiTAB Wagering climbed 15.2 percent to 309.6 million Australian dollars.
