New Advertising Tool
Net-mercials has launched a new Jump.SpaceTM affiliate program that will give consumers the opportunity to see video, audio and animated ads when clicking on an affiliate button, maximizing the effectiveness of online advertising campaigns. When a customer clicks the affiliate button, the Net-mercial "plays" during the "jump" to the affiliate's website, delivering the targeted advertising message. Net-mercials integrate easily into existing advertising campaigns, company officials say, and deliver superior rich media advertisements that typically produce click through rates up to ten time higher than traditional banners ads. In addition, Market Advisors reports that advertising recall is twice as high among interstitial viewers as compared to banner viewers, leading to improved banner awareness. Personalizing Your Customers' Web Experience
WebSphere Personalization, a new product from IBM, allows companies to deliver web content that is personalized to match the unique needs and interests of individual site visitors. The software saves developers time because it decreases the amount of application code they need to create to deliver targeted content, IBM officials say. Plus, personalizing the content on a Web page helps make the site more interesting and easier to use, attracts more visitors, keeps them on the site longer, and encourages them to return more often.

The product is now available for the AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems. WebSphere Personalization, Version 3.5, will also be available October 31 for the OS/400 operating system. IBM list price is $10,000 per processor. IBM also plans to make WebSphere Personalization available in the future for the S/390 platform.

New Grid Control For MicrosoftR Visual StudioR Developers Available
True DBGrid Pro 7.0, an ActiveXR component that lets programmers quickly and easily browse, edit, add, delete, and manipulate tabular data, was just released by ComponentOne LLC. Additionally, the component adds even more functionality to its 100 existing data presentation and user interface features.

The new features include an enhanced presentation of Master-Detail relationships. In addition to showing hierarchical relationships between records, each drop-down display is a fully editable grid that can be customized and manipulated. True DBGrid Pro 7.0 also features Excel-style cell selection to easily choose any row, column, or range of cells; additional display modes to present data in useful formats (FormView repositions data in a standard “form” that can be modified as needed, and Inverted View repositions rows as columns to provide a convenient “read down” format); even better keyboard navigation with the ability to control the relative position of the next cell when users press the Enter key; and rich scrolling capabilities that allow tracking of the scroll bar location and give users an information pop-up as the scroll bar moves.

E-Mail Delivered By Overnight Post
Zairmail, a new online service, plans to bridge the digital divide between e-mail users and the majority of U.S. households, which still lack Internet access. "Although the Internet has revolutionized communications, the postal service remains king when it comes to reaching consumers," said Wilson Zehr, chief executive officer of Zairmail. "Zairmail provides businesses and consumers with the best of both worlds: a fast, cost-effective and convenient way to compose a message online and deliver it quickly via postal mail."

Zairmail provides Internet-driven print communication, enabling a convergence between the Internet and postal mail on a large scale. The foundation of Zairmail is a geographically distributed MoD (mail on demand) system. Using Zairmail, electronic content is routed across the Internet to a location near where it must be delivered, and then automatically printed, folded, inserted and presented to the postal service for the next day delivery.
