Protection against Bad Love

Rainbow Technologies of California is touting a product that's designed to protect corporate email systems from getting plunked by the likes of the now infamous "I Love You" virus. The company says its iKey authentication token, a compact electronic key that's compatible with smart cards and snaps directly into laptops and desktops through USP ports, is an effective tool to prevent "spoofing" attacks like this month's attack of wicked cyber love gone bad. The danger of such attacks lies in the fact that the virus-ridden emails appear to the receiver as if they were knowingly sent by the sender. Thus, the receiver recognizes that the infected email attachment was sent by a trustworthy person and blindly unleashes a whole lot of badness onto his computer. iKey is designed to eliminate this by enabling users to authenticate messages by writing digital signatures to all emails. Both the customer and e-business interfaces work via any standard Web browser, and no software installation is needed. Your staff, their platform. Check it out at www.chatspace.com.

Bargain Hunting for Legal Help

The Industry Standard recently published an article featuring three such sites: www.elawforum.com, www.examen.com/pro_legalpath.html and www.ibidlaw.com. Leaner, Meaner Certificate Management Software by RSA

RSA Security Inc. this week announced the worldwide availability of Keon(R) Certificate Server 5.5, the company's digital certificate management system. The new software is designed to make it easier for organizations to automatically register and maintain their users and integrate the digital certificate solutions into existing IT infrastructures. Included in the package is the new Keon OneStep feature, an automated "bootstrap" process that is intended to expedite issuing new digital certificates during installation by allowing administrators to take advantage of existing authentication systems. The OneStep feature automatically approves and issues certificates to authenticated users, greatly simplifying the time-consuming, multi-step request, verification and approval process found in other PKI offerings. The new feature is also designed to work with RSA SecurID(R) authentication and can be customized to support other authentication techniques. More information of Keon(R) Certificate Server 5.5 is available at www.rsa.com.
