Edifecs Launches New Format for XML Exchanges
CommerceDesk 4.0 was launched this week by Edifecs, a software firm that played a role in RosettaNet's initial business-to-business exchange formats, and the company says the new program makes it easier for B2B XML exchanges. The new software is built around a core server designed to manage the trading partner relationship, collaboration, testing and validation of links between the two companies and administration of those links. Before electronic exchanges may begin, the trading partners must determine each others capabilities, identify the business processes involved, define the type of information to be exchanged, create standard formats for the exchange and then configure and test systems.

New Era in Broadcasting Begins Next Week
As the Internet has progressed to allow PC users to access radio stations all over the world, that concept will soon be spreading to dashboards of cars. The third and final satellite from Sirius Satellite Radio, a New York firm, will be launched Nov. 30. The system will allow Sirius to provide consumers with up to 100 stations of CD-quality radio sound that can be heard anywhere in the continental United States. Industry observers say that the idea holds tremendous potential in the automotive market, particularly for cross-country travelers and residents of rural areas. Engineers from various companies are also working with auto makers on new antenna technology. Antenna development is key, they say, if consumers want to get "CD-quality" sound.
