Forget Your Password
Remembering passwords may no longer be necessary thanks to a new suite of free biometric solutions for the Internet that's called "Forget Your Password." SAFLINK Corporation will be introducing these cool new tools, in beta format, during the Fall Comdex next month. The suite will feature a free, voice-based, downloadable software program that's designed to secure credit card and personal information, along with simplifying access to protected Web destinations. The software, which was jointly developed with Jotter Technologies, will allow consumers and online businesses to use voice recognition instead of passwords. Users will also appreciate the "Personal Internet Assistant" that includes an e-wallet, form-fill and personalized "ticker" capabilities. Additional biometric features will be available for purchase, such as fingerprint and iris recognition. "By utilizing the biometric capabilities of our new product suite, online enterprises will be able to reduce credit card fraud, repudiated transactions, unauthorized access to content, and a broad range of password-related problems," explained SAFLink Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Anthony. "At the same time, end users will be able to log on without having to remember different passwords or worry about losing them." More information about the new "Forget Your Password" biometric software suite is available at www.saflink.com

Crime Trends and the Internet
Online entrepreneurs need to keep up with the latest trends affecting their field. One large concern affecting every online business, however, involves security. Learning about the latest trends in cybercrime is possible for those attending the CyberCrime 2001 Conference scheduled Jan 21-23, 2001 at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. The conference will feature Dr. Henry Lee, who will discuss "New Technologies in the 21st Century in Criminal Investigations." Presentations will also be given by Howard Schmidt, Microsoft's Chief of Information Security and Parry Aftab, an author and general counsel. "This is one of the hottest topics in technology today, and the decisions that corporations, businesses, schools, law enforcement agencies, and the government make today will directly impact their ability to swiftly protect, prevent, and prosecute crimes over the Internet," explained Internet Crimes Inc. VP Greg Larson, whose company is presenting the three-day event.

Cheap Domain Registrations Available for Small Companies
Small companies can take advantage of cheap domain registrations through #1 Domain Name Registration (www.1domain-name-registration.com). Typically companies pay $70 for a two-year registration, but #1 Domain Name is offering the same service as Network Solutions but for only $35. As an additional service, small companies can create an account with #1 Domain Name Registration, which allows the business owners to manage their domain names and set up free parking and re-directions services. "We try to make registering a domain name as easy as possible," explained the company's owner. "Small business owners don't have time to hunt down the proper steps to register a domain name, so we try to make it easy for them. I think the advantage to a business when using us, is they have an opportunity to ask us advice and get a hold of us on the phone. The larger registration companies just can't match our small business focus and customer service."

Hands-Free Internet Service Coming to Cars
Cell phones and Palm organizers will soon be teaming up to provide hands-free Internet service in automobiles. Palm Inc. and Delphi Automotive Systems Corp. plan to sell wireless Internet services for the new hands-free communications system they designed for automobiles. The system, the Mobile Productivity Center, works by linking a Palm organizer and mobile phone to a car's audio system. No prices were disclosed for the proposed services, which will be designed specifically for the MPC, a cradle-like device the companies have developed to hold a Palm computer and cell phone. Palm and Delphi are creating a new company, MobileAria, to begin selling the voice-activated services, such as e-mail and news, in the second quarter of 2001. Palm and Delphi are minority investors in MobileAria along with the Mayfield Fund, a venture capital company. No other financial details were disclosed.
