Intruder Alert
With computer crimes happening all too frequently, system administrators need to keep a wide array of weapons in their arsenal to protect against intruders and viruses. A new tool for the never-ending battle was just released by The IS Consulting Group, Inc. The company's Web, email and pager-based Intrusion Prevention Service TM (IPS) sends out timely email and pager notifications of newly discovered vulnerabilities. Without IPS notifications, the company says, newly discovered vulnerabilities can result in a breach-of-security within client infrastructures. Through the automated service, IPS clients are also notified of computer viruses and can browse the IPS vulnerability database for previously published vulnerabilities, viruses, and security patches via the IS Consulting Group IPS online interface.
Lock Out Hackers
Software that provides byte-by-byte protection for a company's website by "locking" the site's content is available from WebSiteLock. The software constantly monitors all files on a website; immediately and automatically rebuilds any 'tampered' files with original files, and reports any attacks. It allows authorized users to make additions, deletions or changes to the website, but blocks anyone else. MFX Research, a Sydney, Australia-based firm, developed WebSiteLock.
