Tropicana Entertainment Restructuring Approved

25 August 2008

Nevada’s Gaming Commission approved a management shift for financially troubled Tropicana Entertainment, reports the Associated Press.

The owner of 11 United States casinos filed for bankruptcy protection on May 2 after missing an interest payment on a loan.

According the news service, the plan takes Tropicana away from the owner, William Yung III, and places it in the hands of a new board and Scott C. Butera, the company's chief executive.

Additionally, the casino operator is working on putting one of its riverboat casinos on the auction block, the Wall Street Journal reports today.
