Turkey to Privatize National Lottery

Turkey has initiated plans to privatize its national lottery, Milli Piyango, and the right to operate the lottery shall be put to international tender.

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports that technical specifications for the privatization process have been completed. Administrative specifications and a timetable for the privatization should be issued in the next few days.

Whatever company secures the operating license will have to distribute 20 percent of total revenues to the National Lottery Authority.

The first operating license term under privatization shall be for ten years.
