U.S. Lottery Shut Down by Court Ruling

26 December 1998

Veteran industry observers know that the Coeur d'Alene Indian tribe of Idaho has been fighting the good fight in court to maintain their ability to offer internet lottery services off of tribal land. On December 17, 1998, the US District Court slapped them with a memorandum decision and order to cease operations.

The tribe and it's operational arm, Unistar Entertainment, has submitted the following letter out to their players to make them aware of this change:

It is with mixed emotions that I must tell you that the US Lottery has decided to close it's doors for business. I therefore must ask you to visit our site one last time and update your account information. Once you have completed updating your account, please request withdrawal of your account balance in full. All accounts with a balance of $250.00 or less will credited to your credit card of record. For all accounts with a balance of more than $250.00, we will credit your card up to $250.00 and send you a check for the balance. You must complete your withdrawal by January 10, 1999. All withdrawal requests after that date will be handled an individual basis in writing.
