UK Gambling Commission Seizes Unlicensed Gaming Machines

13 June 2008

The UK Gambling Commission has seized several gaming machines in Oldham because they had been supplied without an operating license.

Officers from the Greater Manchester Police and the Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council joined Gambling Commission officers in visiting premises in Chadderton, Oldham. Seven machines were seized immediately, followed by the removal of six others from betting shops in the North West.

"The Gambling Commission's role is to ensure that gambling is crime-free, fair and safe and we will take action against those who supply gaming machines without an operating license," said David Thornton, the Gambling Commission's Regional Compliance Manager.
