The United States Department of the Treasury and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System this morning announced the release of a joint proposed rule for implementing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
The creation and implementation of the rule was prescribed within the legislation, which was enacted in October 2006. The rule does not immediately go into effect; it will instead undergo a 90-day comment period, followed by further consideration and then finalization.
Interactive Gaming News will report further on the development this afternoon. For those who can't wait to dig into the details, click here to view the proposal.
