Victor Chandler Staff Released on Police Bai

19 June 2008

The Victor Chandler International support staff members held in Kuala Lumpur were released Wednesday. The arrestees, detained since last Friday, have yet to be charged by Malaysian authorities.

Phil Hall, a spokesman for Victor Chandler International, told Interactive Gaming News Thursday that 16 staff members -- not 15, as originally thought -- were released on police bail until early July.

Police bail means the detainees were released without charge; however, they are required to return to the police station on a set date next month.

The date is not known.

"Still, the authorities have given us absolutely no explanation as to what the investigation is about," said Mr. Hall, whose London company, Phil Hall Associates, handles public relations for Victor Chandler International.

Mr. Hall said Michael Carlton, chief executive of Victor Chandler International in Gibraltar, is scheduled to visit Kuala Lumpur next week.

He declined to comment on the company's future plans for the operation, an Internet technology and call center established in 2006.
