Victoria Passes Interactive Gaming Legislation

When Queensland passed its Player Protection Act last year it was speculated that other Australian states would follow suit. A similar act was passed June 8 in Victoria, and IGN has obtained a copy of the bill.

Update (Apr 19, 2000): The government of Victoria hasn't yet enacted this legislation. Should the law be enacted, the tax rate for Victorian online gaming licensees would be 50 percent of gaming revenue. The Victorian government is considering adjusting this rate.
