Spreading the Word -- Sportsbook.com announced this week it will be the head sponsor of a new U.S.-based professional cycling team. CyclingNews.com reports that the eight-rider team, led by former U.S. national champions Adam Myerson and Ryan Oelkers, will compete in all of the major races in the Unites States, including the new Tour of Georgia. The team will also participate in the Milk Ras next year in Ireland. The sponsorship was a great fit for team manager Bill Laudien, who's no stranger to online betting. "I have been making friendly wagers for years and was a Sportsbook.com customer long before I approached them about becoming involved with cycling," Laudien told CyclingNews.com. "It's a safe, secure way to enjoy sports and the company is very excited about the marketing possibilities of a pro cycling team. We're ecstatic."

Names and Faces -- U.K.-based gaming software provider World Gaming plc quietly announced Christmas Eve that its board of directors has suspended David Craven as the CEO pending an investigation by the board into various allegations. The company said it will comment on the nature of the allegations upon the completion of the investigations, which is expected in mid January. The company's chairman, Nicholas Jackson, will serve as the interim CEO during the investigations.
