Those AGs are at it again. Florida Attorney General, Bob Butterworth, successfully "convinced" Western Union operators in his state to cut off money transfers to 40 offshore sportsbooks in Curacao, Grenada, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
Butterworth is trying to stem the tide of Caribbean base sports betting operations. According to an AP report, Western Union had accepted $1.5 million in wagers from 300 locations in Florida during a recent two month period.
This targeted both phone and internet wagering operations which would accept wire transfers from their customers to set up an account, said Gary Betz, special council to the attorney general.
