Dear readers:
If you're a long-time subscriber or visitor to Interactive Gaming News, you're aware that the Web Site has kept the same look and format since launching in 1998. This is because we've always focused on what's most important to our readers: content.
Nevertheless, after nearly five years, it was time for a facelift, and on December 11 we launched the redesigned IGamingNews.com. While the site looks much different, the changes go beyond cosmetic improvements.
Following is a rundown of new and/or improved features:
Better Navigation - The new IGN features quick access to internal sections previously burried two or three pages deep. In addition to eliminted unneccessary navigation steps, we've added dropdown boxes and menu bars for one-click access to our most popular sections.
Enhanced Search Features - The new IGN search engine offers the same advanced features as the old one, but executes at speeds of up to 30 times faster. We've also added a one-step keyword search for convenience.
Revamped Jurisdictions Section - Our index of I-gaming jurisdicions now enables subscribers to search by region, types of gambling and keyword. We've also updated the data and added jurisdictions.
Financial Section - The IGN gaming stocks page has been replaced by the "Financial" section, which, in addition to the list of public I-gaming companies, now incudes the latest financial and business news headlines. Plus, researchers now have quick access to quotes and news for individual companies.
Today in I-gaming History - What happened on this day in I-gaming history? Accessible from the front page, this feature offers a daily retrospective of news affecting the I-gaming business over the course of the last five years.
Insights - You read IGN, so you're up to date on the latest industry news. But what does it mean and how will it affect you? That's where "Insights," IGN's new "Ask the Expert" column, comes in. Twice a month we pose important questions related to I-gaming policy to one or more members of our stable of legal and business experts. Readers are encouraged to send in questions of their own.
Rate Our Articles - Tell us which stories you find most useful and which you could have done without. Our new Feedback form enables subscribers to tell us what content is most important to them, and thus, enables us to better serve them. It takes all of two seconds!
View Related Articles - Our new "See Also" feature embedded within individual articles gives readers one-click access to related news.
Readers Poll Archives - View results from IGN's weekly Readers Poll dating back to 2001.
The Headline Filter - With one click, view all headlines pertaining to a particular topic.
Daily Nambling Notes - IGN's hugely popular weekly I-gaming news bits column is now available on a daily basis.
Improved Desktop Conference Section - Our "Desktop Conference" audio interviews have been reorganized and are now more easy to browse. Subscribers can search the conference pages by specific categories.
Coming Soon: The Law Library - The static IGN "US Law" section will be replaced by a searchable database of international legal and policy-related documents. Subscribers will be able to browse legislation, court documents, research studies, opinion letters, transcripts of hearings, news stories and additional documents related to worldwide Internet gambling policy. They'll be able to search by type of document as well as by keyword. This section will be available soon.
The IGN staff is elated to bring you the redesigned Interactive Gaming News. The new site was designed with the readers in mind, and many of the new features are a direct result of feedback from our readers and the IGN editorial advisory board. To continue improving, we welcome your comments and ideas about the new site. Tell us what you like and what you don't like. Let us know if you come across a stray bug that made it past the testing process.
