30 January 2009

WMS Industries Inc. posted record second-quarter revenues on Thursday of $178.4 million, up 12 percent over the same period a year ago.

The Illinois-based gaming supplier also saw a 14.6 percent uptick, quarter over quarter, in total gross profits to $109.6 million.

The company said global new unit shipments rose 6 percent to a second-quarter record, 7,518 units, of which 17 percent were the new fully digital “Bluebird 2” units. It also saw the average selling price improve by 8 percent to a quarterly record of $13,686.

WMS reported adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and share-based compensation of $ 61.9 million, up 17.9 percent against the 2007 second quarter.

“With our distinctive culture of innovation, growing gaming operations revenue, increased market penetration, pristine balance sheet and increased cash flow generation, WMS continues to strengthen its foundation for further long-term growth and enhanced stockholder value,” said Brian R. Gamache, chairman and chief executive, in the report.

The company reiterated its expectation for annual revenue growth of 10 percent to 12 percent -- or $712 million to $728 million -- and that it has a positive outlook for the third quarter.
