Worldnet Casinos Comes under Fire

28 March 2000
A New Jersey resident is suing Worldnet Casinos, operators of Casinopirata.com, for failing to pay him his winnings. The player, James Lutz, says he opened a wagering account at Casinopirata.com and eventually won a $50,000 jackpot. He says he contacted the managers and operators of the cyber casino by telephone and email and was repeatedly put off.

Represented by his brother, Thomas Lutz, James Lutz filed a consumer complaint March 20 in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Morris County against Casinopirata.com Ltd., Worldnet Casinos, Inc., Advantage Technologies, Inc., George J. Bentley, Nicholas Nolter, Worldnet Gaming, Inc., Worldnet.com, Inc., Worldnet Corp., Worldnet Companies, Advantage Systems, Inc., Steven Amdahl and several unnamed persons and companies.

Consumer fraud carries fiduciary relief of treble damages and attorney fees. The plaintiff is also asking compensatory damages of $50,000 from each defendant, plus $1 million in punitive damages under breach of contract and common law fraud and conversion charges.

The defendants, who each have 35 days from receipt of complaints to respond, were unavailable for comment.

The Lutz brothers have sent a letter to the New Jersey Attorney General's office as well, although they haven't yet received a response.
