The plug has been pulled on the one-and-a-half-year relationship between WPT Enterprises and its gaming software provider, WagerWorks. WPTE founder and CEO Stephen Lipscomb ended his keynote address this morning at the World Poker Congress in Stockholm with the announcement that Berkeley, Ca.-based CyberArts will provide software solutions for WPTonline.com.
The exclusive software licensing deal enables WPTE to assume development, management, marketing and customer service for its online poker room.
For CyberArts, it is the second significant licensing deal in recent weeks following the confirmation of its role as poker software provider to Mansion, the Gibraltar-based gaming operator.
CyberArt's software draws on co-founder and CEO Chris Derossi's extensive enterprise computing background and is built to withstand the extreme load variations, and localization demands experienced by international online poker sites. The new CyberArts-powered World Poker Tour platform will be robust, multi-language and multi-currency. The WPTE project will be managed by CyberArts Derossi and co-founder Ken Arnold.
"We are truly excited about the prospect of providing the product that can take WPTonline.com to the next level." Derossi explained. We believe our Foundation Software, coupled with WPTE's innovation and commitment to the poker player will create an unmatched gaming site."
Lipscomb said CyberArts should give WPTE "the tools to make our poker business the most innovative and compelling gaming offering on the internet."
"We saw the strengths of CyberArts' software: its customizable interface, its global functionality and the robust and scalable nature of the technology platform," Lipscomb said.
