(PRESS RELEASE) -- Yggdrasil has been granted a supplier permit in Sweden, allowing the company to continue to provide its services in the market.
Holding a gaming software permit is a now a mandatory requirement in the Nordic country, following new regulation that will enter into force on 1 July.
The Swedish regulator started accepting applications on 1 March and Yggdrasil was one of the first companies to be issued a permit on 22 March.
“Remaining compliant in all jurisdictions in which we operate is critical to us and has always been a key priority for Yggdrasil,” said Petter Envall, General Counsel and Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at Yggdrasil.
The obtained permit will enable Yggdrasil to continue to legally offer its games portfolio to licensed operators in Sweden, a key market for the company where it has a strong presence and heritage.
“Sweden is one of our core markets, and the team was fully focused on submitting our application for the new permit as soon as the application process opened,” said Envall. “Yggdrasil has a clear regulatory strategy focus and we maintain very close relationships with our locally regulated operators. Yggdrasil encourages other vendors to apply for this licence and I would like to give praise to the Swedish Gambling Authority for a very simple and straightforward process for administrating these permits.”
