Online Gaming in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Tourism grants licenses to businesses wishing to take internet bets on sporting events. Online casinos are expressly prohibited. There are several online poker websites operating, but demand is low.

Licensing may be applied for through the Electronic Licensing Republic of Kazakhstan, a portal serving as an "effective, transparent mechanism for information exchange between government agencies, licensees and business communities of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

In 2013, Kazakh legislators debated whether to regulate online casinos as part of an overall effort to increase oversight of the whole gaming industry, but no action was taken.
