Online Gaming in Macau

The government of Macau has authorized the Macao Jockey Club to offer gaming for horse racing, greyhound racing, and football and basketball wagering products over the internet. Macau authorities have also authorized the Sociedade de Lotarias e Apostas MĂștuas de Macao, Lda. to offer sports lottery products over the internet.

Foreign gambling providers are not permitted to offer remote services from Macau. In 2015, Macau's official gambling regulatory agency, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, released a public advisory to Macau citizens advising them that all online interactive gambling websites in Macau are considered illegal operations.

In late 2020, the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau indicated it was analysing online gambling trends, but the government has since emphasised that interactive casino gaming will remain illegal and has instead focused on strengthening enforcement against illegal remote operators.

In February 2024, Macau introduced the "Law to Combat Illegal Gambling Crimes," which imposes severe penalties, including up to eight years imprisonment for those operating illegal online gambling operations and up to six months imprisonment for participants.
