Online Gaming in Taiwan

Taiwan’s sports lottery products have been available online since May 2008. Operating any other form of online gaming within Taiwan is illegal.

The legalities of a Taiwanese resident placing a bet with an offshore operator are a bit of an open question. Taiwanese punters have been arrested for placing wagers online, although the Criminal Code does not specify this as an illegal activity. Taiwanese courts have tended to rule against bettors in these cases, though.
