Online Gaming in Latvia

Online gaming is expressly legal in Latvia as part of the 2006 Gambling and Lotteries Law.

Latvians are only supposed to bet with companies licensed to operate in Latvia, and in 2014, the country's Lotteries and Gambling Supervision Inspection (IUAUI) launched an online gaming blacklist and is working to disable access to 102 online gambling sites.

Gambling advertising outside gambling venues is prohibited, and from 1 April 2026, a narrow exception allows registered figurative trademarks of Latvian-licensed totalizator and betting operators to appear in adult sport sponsorship contexts: at adult sports events, in competition and club names, on sportswear and equipment, and in event-linked sponsorship announcements. The exception does not cover youth or children's sport.
