Online Gaming in Liechtenstein

For years, the only legally permissible online gaming operation in Liechtenstein was offered by the government-controlled International Lottery Liechtenstein Foundation (ILLF). The foundation operated a number of lottery sites, including PLUS Lotto, founded in 1995, along with Lotto.li and World Lotto Corporation. The ILLF donated a portion of the proceeds from these three websites to charitable projects and organizations internationally and locally.

The ILLF filed for bankruptcy in September 2011 and no longer offers online gaming. The online lottery sites, as well as the World Lotto Corporation, are no longer operational.

Despite the lack of regulated online gaming sites in the country, there are several European online casinos that accept players from Liechtenstein. Player-protection has been strengthened: Liechtenstein requires casinos to conduct affordability checks and exclude at-risk players, and since January 2025 has implemented a cross-border exclusion system with Switzerland, so a player banned in one country is also excluded in the other.
