Q & A: Glyn Williams, attheraces

Glyn Williams is the commercial director of attheraces, the eagerly awaited betting consortium sponsored by Arena Leisure, BskyB and Channel 4. The betting site launched on Dec. 12 and features streaming video of horse races from 49 U.K. racecourses. Williams spoke with IGN this week about his goals for the betting site as well as broader issues in the interactive gaming industry, including U.S. laws, online payment solutions and the effects of the decrease in U.K. betting taxes.

Alderney: More Licenses than Requests

In August, island of Alderney had sold three out of a possible nine online bookmaking licenses, to Sportingbet, Surrey Sports and International Sports Betting Ltd. The cash from the licenses provided an extra source of income to the island's economy, which is largely reliant on tourism dollars. At the time, wealth glimmered for every Alderney inhabitant.

Third Atiyeh Brother Indicted

When a tech lawyer talks about a case that's a golden oldie, he's probably talking about one that's three years old. For a real estate lawyer, the golden oldie is probably 300 years old. Still, that doesn't make it any easier to explain the fundamental misconceptions even bright and sophisticated people have about tech law. Let's dispel some.
