Contents of US Rep. Frank's Letter to Congress Revealed

19 September 2007

In early September, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., authored and circulated a letter to all members of Congress seeking support for the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, the contents of which were released Monday by the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative (SSIGI).

The letter's release follows shortly after Frank, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the bill is "not very active" and that "there's not support for it yet--it's growing."

Currently, the bill, which seeks to establish a regulatory framework for I-gaming in the United States, has 35 co-sponsors.
