Scuttlebutt in Texas

21 May 1999
The well-publicized 1998 criminal case in Texas, in which four people were charged with money laundering and operating a sports betting operation, is back in the news. The Dallas Morning News published a story relating to the lawsuit on Monday, prompting several inquiries from IGN readers.

Four Texas citizens were found guilty of the two charges in June 1998, while at least one of them was also found guilty of conspiracy, but the rulings were appealed and then reversed August 24. The story has resurfaced in Dallas because one of the defendants, Ronald Hamilton, who lost his job when the charges were filed and regained it once he was found not guilty, recently filed a lawsuit to gain back the five years of pension and benefits he lost when fired. There are no new developments regarding last year's criminal case.
