The Export Processing Zone Act

12 August 1999
IGN reported in July that Belize has reentered the online gaming scene by scrapping the Computer Wagering Licensing Act of 1994 and instead utilizing the Export Processing Zone to cater to Internet and telephone gaming well as other forms of electronic data processing. Since then, we've obtained a copy of the legislation and a letter from the solicitor General clarifying that the Act covers Internet and telephone gaming services.

Of particular interest is that EPZ businesses can't provide betting services to residents in Belize. This shouldn't be much of a factor, as less than 3,000 people in the country own credit cards and very few are online.
