Revamping Belgian Law - Internet Gambling Remains in the Mix

Belgian's most recently passed gambling law, which went into effect on April 19, 2002, was set up "to rationalize the operation and direction of the National Lottery (NL)," and Article 4, § 1 of the law granted to the new "Nationale Loterij" (NL) the legal form of a private company with limited liability of public law and a registered capital of 62,000 euro (the legal minimum).

reports that concerned Victorian racing stakeholders will meet Thursday to discuss the recent approval given by Racing Victoria Limited to allow betting exchange operator Betfair to publish Victorian race fields and match wagers on Victorian racing. The paper says the aim of the meeting is to "recommend a course of action to Racing Victoria."
